Ironman 70.3 UK 2010
Nov 5th

I have decided at next years Ironman 70.3 UK I will be raising money on behalf of the Rotary International. Rotary are the charity partners of the event and do a lot to raise money for many varied charities. The Ironman 70.3 consists of a 1.2 mile swim followed by a 56 mile bike ride and then finished off with a 13.1 mile half marathon run. If this isn’t hard enough, the UK event is considered the hardest event of it kind in the world due to the 2648 meters of combined climbing throughout the bike and run course.
Quick Facts
Race Date – Sunday 20th June 2010
Race Location – Wimbleball Lake, Exmoor Race
Distance – 70.3 miles inc 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run
The principal causes jointly supported by Ironman UK & Rotary in connection with the 2010 event are:

Leukaemia Research Fund

Childrens Hospices

Marie Curie Cancer Care

Life Education
These are all worthy causes which I am proud to raise money for.
More details will follow but if your keen please take a look at Rotary International in Great Briton & Ireland and more information on the race can be found here.
Oh and one more thing, I have set a target of £2,000.

All the articles are of great interest but a few highlights I’ve found thus far are;

Anyway, be sure to check it out, well worth a read…

What’s happening!

Hi,
Well unfortunately when I took this project on I neglected the fact it was fast approaching triathlon session. Back on 14th June I did my first Ironman 70.3. The UK IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon consists of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run. Athletes have 09hrs 30mins to complete the course and call themselves an IRONMAN. If doing this wasn’t hard enough I picked what is arguable the hardest one in the world, Wimbleball, with over 3000mtrs of climbing on the bike and run legs.
Needles to say I lived to tell the tale and the sense of achievement is amazing, I did a time of 06:53 which I’m happy with, but I can’t help thinking I can do better, hence I have pre-registered for next year. I am also doing Ironman Germany 70.3 on 16th August, thus I haven’t really been concentrating on this site, which is a shame, but with work, training and let face it, fitting in some fun, I haven’t time to devote to this project. However, with winter fast approaching it will soon be number one priority.
In the mean time I have added this theme so that the site is at least functioning.
